Well... today was the AES exhibition down in Surrey. I was stuck for a lift so Mary kindly offered to take me! She picked me up at just gone 9am. We got there at 10:50am and queued to go in. The queue was HUGE!! Got in and went to have a look round. LOADS of dead bugs in cases, stick insects, mantids, centipedes, millipedes and (what i was there for) SPIDERS!!!!
I came out with 3 new spiders!!
4.5 inch Haplopelma minax ( Thailand Black )
Spiderling - Psalmopoeus cambridgei ( Trinidad Chevron )
Spiderling - Lasiodora klugi ( Bahia Scarlet Birdeater )

The minax i kinda "rescued" i was kept in such awful conditions!! In a pot it barely fit in.. with nothing but rotten,. mushy, almost liquid..fruit!!! Poor spider isn't very well. I've rehoused her on loads of substrate with a hide and keeping her warm. She has shown slight improvement over the past 2 days but nothing major. She doesn't eat or anything. Just has been seen cleaning her legs at night when it gets dark. I have my fingers crossed for her!
The L. klugi is doing very well =D Bald patch has gone dark so she is in pre-moult. Fingers crossed for her aswell!
The P. cambridgei is happy in his jar and sits at the bottom near the glass where i can always see him! Gorgeous lil thing!

Well chuffed with everything i got. A BIG thank you to Mary and Trevor Walters for the lift to and from the exhibition.. and to Mary for the cambridgei baby =D Also lovely to meet Gary, Stuart and Stewart form the forum :D

Brachypelma emilia moulted today. Not much bigger but moult was perfect.

Since the P. ornata moulted i haven't seen it, so i threw a cricket in today and it came straight out and took it and sat eating it. I threw another one in and it took that one aswell!!! Two at once!! Then it went back in its tunnel of web. So i put another in and it came out and grabbed that one aswell! is very greedy but at least he's eating ok =D

A. versi pushed the skin out of his web so have taken that out.

Have also given Ophira a pinkie mouse tonight as have run out of locusts and so have the Japanese Koi Centre!

Checked the spiders to see that the B. smithi (Charlotte) has moulted again. She's looking a lot bigger now!

The A. versicolor also moulted today! =D Haven't seen the skin yet, it's all webbed up still. The spider is now metallic blue. Hopefully his gammy foot has righted itself this time!

The G. aureostriata moulted again today! I knew she was approaching as she refused all food for about a week, but also started drinking loads. Checked last night and she was moulting. Checked this morning and it is a perfect moult and this time the skin is perfect!!! =D Should be able to sex her using it now. *fingers crossed shes female!*

This is when i first got her.
This is her 2 moults later! =D

My B. albopilosum also moulted today! Is now about 2 times bigger than it was when i bought it =D

She was out hunting so i threw 3 crickets in.. and she took them all in her mouth at once.. ran back into her burrow and they were gone! Greedy girl! hehe Glad she's eating ok though. Big relief!

Picture isn't very good. Just can see her abdomen and spinnerettes, as she was sitting in her burrow and her web is like a tub letting her in and out! Very hard to get pictures. I can't take the lid off and get one because as soon as i move the jar she runs back in!

Brother stayed home and saw the parcel in for me. All have arrived safe and sound. Each spiderling was in a camera film pot, in damp tissue, then all 5 inside a box with polystyrene.

Dashed to the reptile shop to get some coconut fibre substrate then came home and unpacked them.

All seem very well. The B. emilia and the B. albopilosum are TINY! The A. versi has a damaged foot. The P. ornata and P. pulcher look great!
